Collection of correspondence received, 1707-39, and sent, 1731-41, travelling certificates, tracts, and other miscellaneous papers of Thomas Story which were tipped into a copy of his printed Journal (1747). Correspondents include James Logan, Hannah Fishbourn, Thomas Chalkley, William Sewel, Griffith Owen, Joseph Pike, Isaac Norris, Hannah Penn, Caleb Pusey, and others. The tracts include "Reasons why ... Quakers challenged by George Keith" (1696), "Treason to Caesar discovered," and a printed pamphlet, FELO-DE-SE (1738). Also included is a copy of Thomas Story's will and a manuscript signed by F.D. Pastorius, "The Matter of Taxes ..."

James Logan, colonial statesman and scholar, became William Penn's secretary and emigrated to Pennsylvania in 1699. Logan was later appointed Penn's financial agent in the colony and adviser for his descendants. Francis Daniel Pastorius (1651-1719) was a German settler of Colonial Pennsylvania. As the agent for the Frankfort Land Company, he came to Philadelphia in 1683 to purchase land tracts for German settlers. This land was later known as Germantown. In 1708, John Henry Sprogel attempted to dispossess many of the German settlers. Pastorious settled the legal dispute in favor of the settlers.
